You knew him as Dick Jones in Robocop. You recall him as Cohaagen in Total Recall. But did you know that he is a talented singer-songwriter? Ronny Cox, Hollywood’s legendary villain, comes to Houston to do good for Music Doing Good, Saturday, September 22, 2018.
Ronny Cox began his Hollywood career with his first movie, Deliverance, in 1972, in which he appeared as ill-fated businessman Drew Ballinger and played in the infamous dueling banjos scene. In addition to portraying numerous Hollywood villains, Cox has also appeared in numerous television series including Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stargate SG-1, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Nashville.
Within the last decade, Cox has also emerged as an important folk singer, something he’s been doing for more than four decades. In 2009, his album, Ronny Cox – Songs…with Repercussions, was the number one folk album in the country. Now, he brings his musical talents to Houston for this memorable event.
The performance will also feature Tyler Henderson, Music Doing Good with Scholarships recipient, on piano. Tyler has been playing the piano since he was five. Now a senior at High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), he has been honing his skill as a jazz musician for more than a decade. Since his arrival in Houston from New York, Tyler has had the pleasure of playing with Wynton Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Inrgrid Jensen and Don Braden.
The Music Doing Good event will feature live music as well as a silent auction. Support a charitable cause and have fun while doing it! Admission starts at $40. VIP packages are available and includes a reception with Ronny Cox with light bites and drinks.
All proceeds from the event will provide funding for musical outreach for Houston’s at-risk children. Music Doing Good provides an after-school theater arts program, music scholarships, free instrument grants and piano accompaniment.
