Mark Shanahan has returned to the Alley to direct The 39 Steps. Due to popular demand, the 2017 ExxonMobil Summer Chills production Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps, is extended through September 3 at Alley Theatre. Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps is a melodrama adapted from the 1915 novel by John Buchan and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock.
The 39 Steps is packed with nonstop laughs and over 150 eccentric characters (played by four actors). This play is about a man with an ordinary life who meets a woman with a strong accent who says she's a spy. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a defying finale.
